Bright Star UMC

Sorry for the long absence in updates, but we have a good excuse... our church, Bright Star UMC of Douglasville, GA, had a team here all week. It was such a good time to be with them and reconnect with old friends. Of the 19 people that were part of this team, we already knew 17, and a lot of them had been very dear friends of ours in our years in Douglasville.

They worked on a variety of projects during the week, including plumbing, wiring, and laying gas lines for the new construction, painting the boys' rooms, plus Cheryl Gruca cleaned about 60 people's teeth and Richard Jacobus turned scrap pieces of rebar into some art to decorate some of our buildings.

Aside from enjoying the time with old friends, Kara and I both felt very proud to still be connected to a church that is increasingly pouring themselves into what the Lord is doing here at NLCH- not only that the church has now sent groups here twice, but more and more individuals and groups in the church are committing to become child sponsors, not to mention that we have so many folks in the church who are also supporting us.

So to those of you from Bright Star who were here, thanks again for coming and blessing us and our kids. To those who weren't, thanks for making it possible for the others to come.

Just some of the stuff that they brought for us. In total, the group brought almost 1,000 pounds of donations for the home.

I don't know who had the most fun this week, but Jim and Richard are the top candidates.

Daniel and Kara,
Thanks so much for your part in making this trip so special. With some of the nerves gone from going two years ago, this trip was equally as incredible as the last time. God so evidently has his hand on NLCH. I wish I had words to express what a blessing it is to be able to go and be a part of what you are doing there.
Much love,
Lisa

Dear Daniel and Kara,

We are so grateful and in awe of all that the Lord is doing there at New Life. We are still processing everything we experienced this week. Thank you for making yourself available to be a vessel to be used up for the Lord. Glenn loves you both so much and after meeting you, I know why he has such great respect and love for you. You guys are awesome! :)
Thank you, also for showing us around on Thursday. We had an absolutely wonderful time hanging out with everyone.
Many blessings!
Love,
Heather and Glenno

Kara-

It's Jamie here from MBRC youth group! Wow. It's fantastic to see the way the Lord is working through you and your husband.

Thanks for blogging about it! :)

In Christ,
Jamie

Daniel and Kara, thank you for being such good host to us from Bright Star. We echo all the comments made by others. And we are glad to say, that interest in NLCH has been peaked by our visit. I think new sponcers will result. We miss you and the kids and even the work. Keep up the good Lords work. Bob R.

Daniel & Kara: Thanks for the pictures and kind words about Bright Star. Our SS class yesterday spent the whole hour talking about what God accomplished thru our wonderful mission team. We are fortunate enough to have 6 members of our class on the team! Thanks again,Rosemary
